It is with both sincere gratitude and sadness that the Miracle Camp and Retreat Center Board of Trustees announce Jonathan Hyde’s departure as Executive Director at the camp at the conclusion of this year’s summer camp season. Since 2015, Jonathan has played a critical role in the development and success of the organization, and, while we will greatly miss his leadership, we extend to him our blessing and prayers as he and his family move back to Fort Wayne, Indiana. He will be joining the staff at Pine Hills Church. We want to acknowledge and thank him for his five years of dedicated service, which served to strengthen all aspects of Miracle Camp.
During his time with Miracle Camp, Jonathan successfully led the board’s restructuring efforts, taking Miracle Camp to a new level. His passion for Miracle Camp and his understanding of its history helped the Board return the camp to its core strengths. Jonathan was instrumental in establishing better systems and processes, as he positioned Miracle Camp to more effectively partner with the local church. Jonathan built a strong team within the organization, and he leaves Miracle Camp on very solid footing for future growth. We sincerely thank him for his contribution and leadership.
Jonathan describes his departure with bittersweet emotion. “I am writing this as a conflicted individual. I passionately love Miracle Camp. I agree wholeheartedly with its mission, vision, and direction. Miracle Camp’s support of the local church’s ministry and its intentionality to build into the next generation of church leaders parallels the core of who I am. But, I also believe that it is time for my role to change.”
Again, we cannot thank Jonathan enough for the dedication, passion, enthusiasm, and motivation he has given Miracle Camp over the past five years. He will be greatly missed by the staff, Board, and partners alike.
In the upcoming months, the camp’s board of trustees will be searching to find a new Executive Director. During this transition period, it’s the board’s priority to identify and bring to camp the best individual to lead Miracle Camp into the future. In so doing, the board intends to maintain the camp’s focus on its partnership with local church ministry, its development of the next generation of church leaders, and building a stable, effective and Christ-honoring camp organization into the future.
