The state of Michigan lifted restrictions on overnight summer camps and published guidelines to allow the safe opening of camps.
Our team here realizes that we have been sending out a lot of different communication to you all over these past few weeks regarding the opening up of Summer Camp. New information comes our way on an almost daily basis and this announcement today came as a surprise. Most of the information that we have seen and heard from state representatives suggested that camps would not be allowed to open before July 4th. We apologize if any of this conflicting information has been confusing to you all. In light of today’s executive order here is our official action plan concerning Summer Camp:

Summer Camps will begin on July 5th
Because of the strict guidelines that have been released just hours ago by LARA (Licensing and Regulatory Affairs) and the need to approach both our staff training and summer camp differently, the July 5th opening date, previously communicated to you, gives our team enough time to familiarize ourselves with LARA’s new guidelines. Your campers’ safety is our utmost priority!

Capacity may be allowed to increase.
In preparation for the opening of camp, we limited our camper capacity to 50%. The new information that just became available may allow us to increase our capacity past this 50% limit. This increase in capacity could allow us to serve more campers, bring kids off of the waiting list, and provide space for our SH1 week that was unable to happen (priority for any new open spots would be given to campers from SH1). More communication will come out shortly!

Our desire has always been to keep camp safe while at the same time doing everything possible to have summer camp this year.
